15 Great Ways to Make Sure Your Husband and Kids Hate You

There is a great scripture in Proverbs that haunts me and puts the fear of God in me for sure and that is:

"A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands." (Proverbs 14:1)

It's sobering to think how much power we hold as wives and mothers to either build and admonish and create. Or to rip apart, break down and destroy. I wonder how many foolish women realized it a little too late? They struck the match and was astounded at how little time it took to burn down the house.

We can find the best example of the wisest of women in Proverbs 31. Now, this lady has it all together!

But then I thought to myself, "If wisdom builds a house and the 'Proverbs 31 woman' does it all right, what are the foolish things that a lot of modern women do that could potentially tear down their houses?"

So here's my list of the top 15 ways to screw up your marriage, your kids, tear down your house with your own hands and pretty much ruin everyone's life and make them hate you for it (caution....sarcasm ahead!).

15. Nothing should get in the way of "me time" Make sure a good portion of your day is spent daring anyone to bother you because you need your "me time." It's okay to be selfish here. The house is a mess, the kids are screaming for something to eat, you haven't spoken to your husband all day, but when it's "me time" everyone else better respect it. It's not selfish. You give of yourself all day, so carving out some time for yourself shouldn't be such a big deal right?! If you're not spending at least 3 hours every day (during the busiest part of the day) locked away in your bedroom, or in front of a computer screen watching You Tube videos, or out at the mall, or shopping on amazon.com, or reading blogs, or watching soaps, or reading Cosmo, or with your nose buried in a book, you're just not doing enough for yourself. If you don't take care of you, who else will?

14. Be a complete drag. Yeah...never smile, never laugh, look at everyone like they get on your nerves all the time and they do everything wrong and make your life miserable. Everyone just loves a super- serious, bitter, hateful person. And living with one is especially great!

13. Be a bully Use emotional manipulation to get what you want. Be really loud and aggressive and just basically beat everyone down. And be sure to always get it your way. Everybody else's way is stupid, inferior, doesn't make sense and pretty much is never good enough for you.

12. Always make sure everyone knows you're right You are right, they are wrong and make sure you let them know it. Make sure they feel extra stupid by belittling them and their ideas, that way they learn to just let you win all the time. Sorta goes along with #13...just be a bully.

11. Never say you're sorry. You're never wrong after all.

10. Withhold sex from your husband Nothin' like physical and emotional manipulation to really make a man pay! You learned way back how important sex was to a man, so you use it to your advantage and never give it to him. Besides, you can't let him catch you having a good time!

9. Treat your husband like a child If he acts like a child, he should be treated like a child. So order him around, yell at him, withhold good things and your affection. Make him sit in another room by himself to think about all he's done wrong. He can't be trusted, so keep tabs on him all day, check his emails and his phone records and scrutinize his every move. You gotta train him right...let him know who's in charge!

8. Criticize your husband Make sure your husband knows that he isn't nearly as smart as you. Be a wise-a** all the time and make sure your tone is sharp and sarcastic. If he doesn't feel like a complete loser, you are doing something wrong.

7. Be sure to complain all the time Yeah...you hate Susie Cream Cheese. Debbie Downer is much more your style. So be a complete sour puss and whine and moan about everything you can think of. But chew out the first person who dares point out something they don't like about you!

6. Preach to your husband Make sure your husband knows what the Bible has to say about everything! Use it especially to point out his flaws. The Bible does say it can be used for correction, right? The house needs a spiritual leader, and he's a poor excuse for one. He doesn't pray or read his Bible nearly as much as you, so somebody has to do it. Never mind that the Bible says that he is the head of the house...there's no time for that. He needs a wake up call right now! And besides, you wear the pants and he and you both know it.

5. Be a total hag Never put on make-up or perfume. Never wear a dress that shows that you do have a body underneath that 15-year-old ratty t-shirt. Make sure you look like death warmed over (because that's how you feel after all) every day when your husband gets home from a hard day at work. That's a great way to greet him...looking like the walking dead! Never mind that it makes you feel good to get dressed up and fix yourself up pretty. But you don't feel good unless you feel bad, so that settles that. Besides, he should love you no matter how you look. So look (and smell) like crap!

4. Spend money like there's no tomorrow There's no guarantee of tomorrow, so why not enjoy your money now?! Avoid all your problems at home and have some retail therapy! Go out with the girls for a "girl's night" or have another spa day. You deserve it! The light bill is late and the kids need to go to the doctor, but you need a mani-pedi STAT!

3. Make sure your house is trashed and you feed your family trash When your husband comes home from a hard day at work, it's especially nice if you make sure he has to wade through piles of crap everywhere. If he has to dodge toys, books, and bags of cheese puffs strewn all over the floor, you're doing it right! Make sure he's not in the mood for sex by cluttering up your bedroom space with piles of clothes, piles of trash on the nightstands, piles of stuff on the bed that has to be pushed aside to even get into it. Also, be sure to never have a nice, hot meal waiting for him or your kids...that'd just be too much! Who are you, June Cleaver? Besides everyone likes frozen pizza and ravioli, or fast food  for dinner, right?

2. Seek out love, acceptance and excitement elsewhere...online is a good place Your husband's not giving it to you, and that's his fault! So stay online all the time! Sit in another room by yourself with your laptop and have at it! Sign up in chat rooms, play games, be who you've always wanted to be by turning yourself into a virtual character and playing with other people in virtual worlds. Keep up with all the drama and even engage in it on social media sites. Find old boyfriends on facebook and flirt with them to make yourself feel pretty and fun. You liked yourself back then after all, and he makes you feel cool again! Or better yet, find a completely new guy and flirt with him. Make plans to meet up with him...sorta like a date! Won't that be exciting! Make your laptop your best friend. Shew away the kids, sit your husband in timeout in another room and do your thing online. It's your me time after all...even if me time is all day, every day and you never look up from the screen and shut everyone else out by wearing your head phones....hey, that's their problem!

1. Give up and walk away Decide once and for all that you'd be better off by yourself. You won't have to deal with the kids all the time (the ex will have them 2 weekends a month), you can spend your money how you want (you'll be getting a big fat child support check!), you can do what you want, see who you want and finally be rid of that ball and chain you used to call your husband. He spent too much time working and not enough time on you, and you're going to make him pay! The kids will be fine, the finances will all fall into place once the court decides everything, it will all be fine. Anything has to be better than living such a hopeless, dull, unfulfiilling life with a man who is just not good enough. A man who just doesn't get you, attend to you, take time for you, make you happy, fulfill you, make enough money for you, isn't home enough for you, isn't a better dad, isn't a better spiritual leader, isn't such a loser. You and the kids will just be better off (they'll thank you later) by yourself. It's easy. Just walk away.

So there you go!

Those are some sure fire ways to make sure you raise angry, bitter, resentful kids who blame you for the wreck that is their life. And you'll also be a shoe-in for a messy, bitter divorce!

All you have to do is resent your life as a wife and mom. Be disinterested, discontented, ignore your family, think of yourself all the time, complain, convince yourself that your husband is no good, that your kids are fine making bowls of cereal for themselves for dinner every night and spending their days occupied by their video games and iPhones. Spend tons of time in fantasy, never take off your headphones or look up from your computer. Disengage completely with your family and put your needs and feelings before everyone else's. That'll just about do it.

And if we're being real here, I would have to admit that I've done (am doing) quite a few of these. But I'm really good at NOT doing #11. In fact, sometimes I find myself apologizing all day because I just simply stink at being a good mom or a supportive wife. I have quite a few bad days. But they are only a few (thank goodness). I so want to do better, so I try to learn from my mistakes. I'm not perfect, but I try. I just need God so badly! I couldn't do this some days without Him! I'd tear my house down for sure!

Oh God! Please help me to never be the foolish woman who tears apart her house with her own selfish hands. Help me to see the truth in all that is good about my home, my husband, my children, my role as his wife and as their mother, and to not believe the lies that the world would throw in my face that somehow a life independent of them would be better. I can't think of a worse fate than to have my grown child(ren), having figured it all out, looking back at me with resentment, rage or even hate at what I did to their lives.
Oh God help me every day to do right by my family. I know I will never do it perfect, but please at least help me do it with YOUR HELP.

Thankful Thursday: God Works His Plan!

I got a little emotional today.

It occurred to me that just 9 months ago we were in a time of despair when my husband lost his job. I am a stay-at-home-mom, so we had no other income and it's an understatement to say that we were worried. Fear can sometimes grip you when you face the unknown. But when you know Jesus, the unknown is a lot less scary because you know He does know and He loves you, so you rest in that.

During the first 6 months with no income (except unemployment benefits), God really took care of us. We had a place to stay, food to eat, a car to drive, clothes, heat, water...all our needs were met. No one got sick, everyone was healthy and we even had a good Christmas.

Little did my husband know when he first lost his job that plans were being made and ground was being broken on a brand new hotel in another state, and that someone had HIM in mind to run it (because when he first met the owners of this company a year prior, they were impressed with him and told my husband to see them first if he ever found himself without a job). So when he walked into their offices, they were overjoyed to see him and snatched him up immediately! God was working it all out behind the scenes and we had no clue! So cool!

So that's why I got a little emotional today. I looked at where we were and where we are now and was filled with gratitude! My husband has a great job with a great company. And it occurred to me that the building of the hotel he will be managing is kind of like a metaphor for our own life.

The owners first had a dream! They drew up plans. They broke ground. They started building. Building this hotel has not been without it's struggles. There have been thefts, bad weather, setbacks, problems, but with perseverance and with a lot of hard work and sweat, they will very soon have a finished, operational hotel!

It's the same with us....

God had a dream....ME! He drew up the plan for my life (Jeremiah 29:11), He broke the good ground of my heart and He started building! The process is not without struggles and hardships, but God keeps working His good plan for His best for my life. And one day, His will will be perfected in me! My job is to just be obedient to Him, love Him, put Him first, relax and He will work His extravagant plan for my life.

Take a look at some of these pictures....

This was taken in February...just 3 months ago. So much has been done since then!

Yesterday tons of  supplies were delivered for the big opening in a few weeks...

The hubs was even recruited to run the forklift to unload pallets from the tractor trailer! He had never done that before in his life! But it had to be done, so he jumped right in and got the job done.

It's coming along so well!

Now look at it! Nearly complete!
Everyone is working so hard right now trying to get everything together.

God, thank you for your tremendous blessings! Forgive me for ever doubting You! Please just keep me teachable so that You can work Your extravagant plan for my life!
I can't wait to see what You build!
Amen

Daddy, Daughter Date and Home Depot Craft

I saw online that Home Depot was offering a great craft for their monthly Kid's Workshops (first Saturday of every month) and I practically begged my husband to take the little one to go make it for me.

Well...and I thought it would be fun for them (of course).

And it was!

My husband took G to Chik-Fil-A for her favorite breakfast...chicken minis.

...and then to Home Depot to make my awesome craft. A super cute Thanksgiving turkey napkin holder. He said that he was really impressed with Home Depot and their kid's workshop program. It was PACKED OUT and they were out of the little orange Home Depot aprons, so my husband didn't let her paint much, but they accommodated everyone and had enough crafts and tools for all the kids.
Don't you just love those little hammers?

Isn't she cute? She looks just like me! :)

I totally love it and hope to use it on my Thanksgiving table FOREVER!

And it wouldn't be a Daddy, daughter date in this family if it didn't involve some sort of music.
So they made a quick stop at Guitar Center. She LOVES pink!

Looks like fun to me.

But not as fun as sleeping in and having a leisurely Saturday morning at home, ALONE..

That's what this mom thinks is fun. ;)

We Had a SUPER Valentines Day!

There are just those precious moments in a marriage...those little jewels that you hold on to and treasure. This Valentines weekend will be one for the record books and one that I will cherish for years to come. Not so much for the AMAZING meal we had at Pappa Deaux's in Cincinnati, or for the alone time during our little getaway at the Hampton Inn, but for the way my husband attended to my needs. He was so thoughtful and went above and beyond!

The days leading up to the weekend were really stressful and I didn't get as much done as I had hoped. The day my parents were to arrive to take care of the little one, I was pretty much in a mad dash to get everything done that I had put off. Not cool, but that's pretty much how I roll (put everything off 'til the last minute!). I didn't expect my husband to help me. I mean, why should he? He works all week and this was the ONE thing I had to do, get the house ready for when my parents arrived. Maybe he sensed I was really stressed about it, I'm not sure, but on Saturday, he just jumped right in and did WHATEVER I needed. The only job I gave him was to clean our bedroom and he did that very well. But on top of that, he washed, folded and put away 3 or 4 loads of towels, took G to run some errands, to get her out of my way while I cleaned, and to get things that I needed. He also swept the patio, carried out bags of trash, and kept up with G so she wasn't in my way, without one complaint or objection!

That was the amazing part. That he didn't condemn me for not having it all done and doing what I ALWAYS do...stressing everyone out by leaving it 'til the last minute. Instead he was gracious, helpful and did things that needed to be done without having to be asked. He was just precious to me. Then on our trip, he insisted I get whatever I wanted at the restaurant, waited on me hand and foot at the hotel and told me over and over how much he loved me and why. WOW! I'm still reeling from all the lavish attention! I just don't deserve it. But somehow, he decides to give it so freely anyway.

I told him before we ever got married and still mean it today, that his love is the closest thing to Jesus love that I've ever known. Because he loved (loves) me when I was unlovable.

What an amazing Valentines Day...I'll never forget it.

FOR LADIES ONLY!!! Some Fun Valentines Day Ideas For You and Your Hubby!

A few months ago I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Jennifer Degler, a clinical psychologist, author, expert on female sexuality and life coach here locally. She spoke to my MOPS group about a topic that is seriously important to married couples, but is hardly ever addressed in the Christian community...and that is SEX!

Jennifer Degler, Ph.D.

I'm not sure why it's not talked about more. Do pastors and leaders not think married couples do it? I mean, duh...we all do it! And if we're not doing it, I would say that's something that needs to be addressed. Because a healthy sex life in marriage is important. Again I say, "DUH!" (haha).

I loved the way she approached the subject...Biblically, clinically, professionally, tastefully but with humor and a whole lot of straight talk! I learned a lot actually (she even had diagrams...eek!). I won't go into that here, but there were some things I did not know about the female body. And that was one of her points. That there are A LOT of women who DON'T know a lot about their own bodies (and are afraid to ask or don't know what to ask) and therefore don't even know how to enjoy sex. So sad. It's 2011 for heavens sake!

I'm doing this post for Valentines Day a little early because I wanted to let ya'll in on some fun that you can maybe try in the next couple of weeks! I receive Dr. Degler's "Dare of the Month" from her website, "CWIVES" (Christian Wives). The dares are "suggestions" or "ideas" for married couples who want to spice up their marriages. Her Valentines dare is so fun. I'm not going to give it away because I want all of you to sign up to receive them too! (You can also follow her on facebook, HERE.)

And don't feel like you have to report back or let me know how it went...that would be a little TMI! (haha)
But HAVE FUN!

13. He makes me laugh.

(in his favorite Christmas present...his new Hoodie Footies! lol)

10. He puts the needs of his family before his own a great deal
of the time.

9. He willingly puts in to practice things that would make this statement true..."Happy wife, happy life!"

8. He rarely complains...even though I give him AMPLE reason to do so!!!

7. He's a giver...

6. He does his own laundry and ironing.

5. I do not have to pick up after him (for the most part).

4. He's a very forgiving human being.

3. He's crazy in love with another little lady and helps me with her without question or complaint...I really never even have to ask. He just does.

2. We got married very young. We've gone through all our growing pains together and he's still HERE!

(very young indeed..me, 21 and he was 19!)

1. He's super crazy about me!

There are lots more reasons, but none that are appropriate to write about or discuss with the whole world! LOL

I love you baby!

My Perfect Vegetable Soup

Although I know many of our ideas of "perfect" are going to vary, this recipe suits me and my family just fine! I also would have probably used a few ribs of celery when I made this, but I didn't have it on hand. And you know what? I didn't even miss it. So, I may just leave it out from now on.

Vegetable Soup

1 bag of frozen veg. (green beans, peas, carrots, corn)
1/2 onion, chopped
3 potatoes, peeled and diced
1 can of corn, drained (we like corn)
1 can of tomato sauce
1 can of Campbell's Tomato Soup (plus one can of water)
1 box of beef broth
2 T sugar
salt and pepper to taste

Add all ingredients to a pot and bring to a boil until potatoes are tender. Turn to low and let simmer for 30 minutes (we like our veg. really tender).

We serve it with oyster crackers, peanut butter sandwiches and big glass of cold milk!!!

Perfect on this, a cold, freezing, foggy day!

Awww....

When things are crazy or when I'm feeling a little down.
What always perks me up?

My two loves!

Sure, they are essentially the cause for a majority of the craziness (ha!), but they are by far the best things in my life and I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world!

A Duck to Water

He was reluctant to become a father. For many years it was not allowed as even a topic for discussion. But since he softened a little, and finally gave in, he's taken to it like a duck to water! He's an amazing father to our baby girl and so in love with her...I think it even surprises him sometimes. I'm a lucky woman!

Happy Father's Day my sweetie!

Daddy Daughter Weekend

I had to go out of town all day on Saturday to sing in a wedding. My husband decided to just stay home with his baby girl and make it a daddy/daughter day.

They went and had pancakes at McDonald's,

(um...what's up with this hair?)

went shopping and he even dressed her and took her to church. I was supposed to meet up with them, but I didn't make it back in time, so I went on Sunday.

I'm so thankful for a husband who not only loves and enjoys his daughter, but takes the time to help out with her.

Men Are Babies!

I had a revelation today.

You know, all the experts say that when you have a relaxing routine with your baby, he should fall asleep fairly easily. They suggest a warm bath in the tub, a nice bottle (or breast), and some soothing snuggles and love from their mother. Sounds nice.

Well, I didn't need an expert to tell me that my husband is exactly the same. All he needs is a nice dip in the hot tub, a half a bottle of wine and some good lovin' from mama, and he sleeps like a baby! : )

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Our Much Needed Date

As promised, here are some Valentines pics of me and my hubby.

Our waiter, Daniel took this pic...he was a great.
Um, notice how we DEVOURED that dessert! The plate is so clean, it looks like we licked up every last bit. I promise we didn't! LOL

Not sure what I'm doing here????

He wouldn't look up...

We didn't end up going to a movie, which is a good thing because we were at the restaurant for 2 hours! I'm not complaining though. It was very crowded and is one of those restaurants that takes a lot of pride in explaining and serving each course, so it was 2 hours well spent. The restaurant is Flemmings in Knoxville, TN. They specialize in great steaks and wine selections.

But I remember a restaurant if EVERYTHING is good. I want a good salad, good bread, a great appetizer, great sides and of course a great main course. And this place delivers! Everything from the herbed bread course served with two different butters, goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes to the molten lava cake with chantilly cream was DIVINE! We really enjoyed ourselves and had a GREAT, much needed date! I love you baby!

Finally...A Date Night!

Tomorrow's the big day! My hubby and I get to have a date night all to ourselves! It's sad that we have to travel 200 miles just to find a babysitter, but that's just what we did. Baby in tow, we've headed south from Kentucky to Knoxville, TN for a special Valentines weekend, and a little visit with friends. The baby is staying with us in a hotel, but a good friend is keeping her most of the day on Sunday so that we can have dinner and see a movie. Yeah, I know it sounds so adventurous, but we play hard! LOL

I'll probably post pics of our big day on Monday, so stay tuned.

Also, I wanted to mention a new crafting blog to you all. It's called Embellishments and Things and it's written by my good friend Shea who has already posted some really cool ideas, such as turning an old sweater into leggings and/or throw pillows. Too cool! Go over and visit and become a follower and show this brand new blog some support!

Just Thinking About Old Times

Valentine's Day will be here soon. My hubby and I are planning on going to Knoxville, TN for the weekend to visit friends (who will actually babysit), see a movie (probably Avatar at the IMAX) and have a nice meal at a restaurant called Flemings. Sounds just perfect. I just want to be together for a few hours...baby free! Like I said, we have a multitude of friends who would love to see Gabby and babysit for us. Unlike our new town...still pretty friendless. But this weekend...ahhh, it'll be just like old times in our old city. Even if it's just for a while.

So I was just looking through some pics and found this old one of me and my honey in downtown Knoxville during the summer of 2004. Wow...that was almost 6 years ago! Amazing! Time sure does fly, doesn't it?

My Little Piece of Heaven!

Doesn't this look nice? Yeah...it is. It's actually too nice!

Sometimes I feel a little self-indulgent for enjoying our hot tub so much. But I REALLY do enjoy it. I feel a little better knowing that I didn't just go out and spend the money on such a luxury myself (although I've always wanted to and am not condemning anyone who does...if you have the money...go for it!). It came with the house...and so did a pool...and a beautiful sun room. We haven't used the pool yet (can't wait for summer!), but we've thoroughly enjoyed the sun room and the hot tub. It feels so good to get out there at night with my hubby. Since we've been using it, we have become so much closer. We get out there and talk...and actually "listen" to each other. It's been so nice and good for our marriage. I guess we just needed something that would help draw us closer. We rarely go out on dates anymore and are usually wrapped up in a TV show or on the computer at night to pay as much attention to each other as we should. I bet a lot of couples can relate. That's why I say EVERYONE needs a hot tub in their backyard! It's probably a lot cheaper than marital counseling! LOL

So I just wanted to post a little something to express how blessed I feel. We have a very modest home that we are comfortable in and happy with, and certainly don't "need" all these things. But for whatever reason, the Lord saw fit to give us a few extras to enjoy.

I'm so thankful.

13 Years

Us in NYC on one of our anniversaries (9 years maybe?).
That year, Bobby took me to Tiffany and bought me a bracelet and some earrings, and a limo picked us up and drove us to see "Wicked." We also ate at Tavern on the Green. But that wasn't nearly as fun as the Excellent Dumpling House in China Town, where you could get a whole mess of dumplings on the cheap! LOL
He planned that whole trip just for me and it was so romantic!
I will never forget it.

It was 13 years ago today that my sweet Bobby took my hand in marriage and made me his wife. He was 19 years old and I was 21 (at least one of us was legal...lol). We were married in a beautiful Christmas wedding in a beautiful church....well...sort of.

We were actually married at his parents' kitchen table at midnight, December 21st. Our pastor had informed us at the dress rehearsal that he was only licensed and bonded to do West Virginia licensed marriages. And since we obtained our marriage license in Kentucky, he wouldn't be able to marry us. That was good to know, less than 24 hours before the wedding!

Everyone was a nervous wreck, especially Bobby. I, being the calm, cool person I am, was full of reassurance (little did I know that this would be a pattern in our marriage...him worried, me calm and cool). I went to his mother and asked her to call her pastor to see if he would marry us on the spur of the moment. Bobby still didn't like this idea, because he wanted it to be on the 21st as planned. So, their pastor agreed to meet us at midnight at their home to perform the "ceremony." I just remember some goofy vows like, "Do you promise to honor and cherish your husband by cooking and cleaning and serving him all the days of your life?" And I said something like, "I'm not sure I want to sign up for that!" Needless to say, we got the vows straightened out and all the paperwork was signed. We were husband and wife!

You'd think two hormonal teenagers (practically) would be running off immediately to go...um...make it official. But Bobby's parents' said, "Now, don't you take her to your house (we had a little place all ready to move into after we were married), you take her home and wait until tomorrow after the real wedding." We were such obedient children...really...I can't believe we did it, but he took me home and he went back to his house, and we didn't make it "official" until the next day. Can you believe that? Like, ten years later or something, his parents told us they couldn't believe it either because they were only joking! haha...very funny.

So anyway, we were married the next day by our pastor in a beautiful ceremony where we sang a song that we wrote to each other. No one knew that we were really married the night before.

Some people may not agree with us getting married so young. I tend to agree. Marriage is serious business and is a commitment for life. Young people hardly know how to look as far as next week, let alone a lifetime! But I knew, like I knew my own name, that God had spoken to me in a still small voice and told me that Bobby was the perfect one for me and that I was going to marry him.

I actually remember arguing out loud with God, telling him that I didn't like Bobby, that I'd tried to date him seriously, and it just wasn't clicking for me. But God fell silent...and that was that. Amazingly, the next time I saw Bobby, I couldn't believe my eyes. He looked completely different to me...I was falling for him! God was working in me to fulfill His word...cause seriously ya'll...I didn't want to go out with Bobby again. But now, I wouldn't trade him for the world!

13 years later, I can still say that he has been the perfect one for me. Always good, patient, hard working, loving, forgiving and totally in love with me!

I love you baby. I can't wait for the next 13!

Ok, So One More Quick Post!

Ok, I said that I was unplugging my computer, but I really haven't gotten to it yet. But I came across this pic of my husband (his new fb profile pic) and was struck by just how handsome he is...not to mention totally hot!
I made a comment about him on fb and one of our friends said, "Get a room you two!" And I said something like, "Well, he's already got one...too bad I can't be there." If you read about our move, you'd know that he's living in a hotel room right now.

So anyway...I love and miss you, and I can't wait until things get back to normal and we can be together again as a family, like we're meant to be! I'm so very proud of what an awesome provider and hard worker you are, and of the man I've watched you grow into and become.
I am lost without you!
Love, Your Wifey

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for my husband!

I have been wanting to do a weekly "themed day" for a while now. One reason is because sometimes I'm at a loss for what to write about, and a day designated to just one topic will help me get something posted, at least one day a week. I'm thinking of adding another theme on Tuesday, so stay tuned.

But for now I've decided to do a "Thankful Thursday" blog posting. Gratitude is important in our lives because it helps us to stay positive and humble. Sometimes we get so focused on what's wrong that we can no longer see what's sooooo good about living in this day, and in this wonderful country of ours that affords us so much abundance and so many blessings.

So, I want everyone to get involved. Not only to encourage others, but to be encouraged yourself. Because when we have an "attitude of gratitude", then we really start to become a more content and positive person! Now, this could be more complicated with links back and forth and whatnot, but I'm not sure how to do all that stuff! So, for now, how 'bout you just comment on something you're thankful for on Thursdays. Read through them all and be encouraged! I will be too!

So today, I'm thankful for my husband and his willingness to work and provide for our family. He's always been a VERY hard worker and takes a lot of pride in the work he does. I've known lots of men over the years who, for whatever reason, just don't want to work! And to be honest, I don't have a lot of respect for these men. I'm very grateful that my husband loves us and himself enough to work hard and provide for his family. He has a very grateful wife and daughter! We love you!

Father's Day

I just wanted to do a quick post thanking my husband for becoming a father. He was reluctant...for a very long time. We were married 11 years before we even tried to have a baby. We were married very young (19 and 21) and like many young couples, it took a number of years for us to get on our feet. Honestly, he was just plain scared of the idea! But my husband really had a lot of wisdom in wanting to wait to bring a life into the world...one he would be responsible for. I was a little scared I may never see the day when I would finally hold my own little baby. But she came...and I've never seen him happier.

I gave him special instructions for the delivery. I wanted to be the first one to see her and the first one to hold her. I was very serious! I was the one who had to do all the work, so I wanted to be the first to hold that baby! But, did I get my wish? No! I had a C-Section and was strapped to a table. Instead, daddy got to go over and snap the first pics and he was the first to hold that sweet baby in his arms. His first words about her was, "She's awesome!" He had tears in his eyes as he held her close to my face so I could see her. He was nervous, but eased right into the role of new papa. Within only a few minutes, he was holding her like a pro and even letting her nurse on his gloved pinkie finger. I'll never forget the joy and pride that radiated from his face. It was a sight to behold! I wasn't even jealous that I didn't get to hold her first. Watching him love on our brand new baby was a blessing. I'll never forget that day.

He's so in love with his baby girl. He says that he can hardly remember life before her. In retrospect, I'm glad we waited. It was hard sometimes, longing for a child, but having to respect the fact he just wasn't ready. But good things come to those who wait. I was patient with him and my reward was a beautiful, healthy baby girl, and a husband who was ready to welcome her with open arms. It's been an interesting journey. But I couldn't imagine anyone more special to walk this road with. I love you honey! Here's daddy and baby taking a little nap. She was not a good sleeper for a very long time and he probably needed it!

Daddy and GG at Christmas. He let her bang around on the keys for a little while. Maybe he'll teach her to play someday!

DH loves the Vols! He even got an orange Santa cap to prove it! He mostly wore it to tease my dad who's blood runs Wildcat Blue! The orange hat drove him crazy!
