Board and Batten...How Much is Too Much?

I've been considering doing board and batten in my living room and dining room/kitchen. What is your opinion? Do you think this trend is played out and overdone? Or do you think it's still on trend and won't go out of fashion for a while? I'd really hate to go for it and that style be so over next year.

And with this style, do you think less is more? Or do you think it looks odd to just do one small room? Should the board and batten continue throughout each room? My living room flows right into the dining room/kitchen and even down the hallway. Would it be too much to do all three rooms and the hallway?


I so love board and batten. And from what I've read it's not a terribly hard project. I just don't want to add all that to my walls if it's out of style in the next few years.
