January 6th, Old Christmas Day

January 6th is Old Christmas Day. Mountain folk celebrated Christmas on this day for generations.

Read more about this tradition and it's history here.

  1. Hey Angie!

That sure is interesting! I had no idea! I'll have to check that out.

    Stay warm!

  2. Interesting... as I said in your Shambie blog... my hubby is mad at me because I put the tree away already... our church bulletin has that the epiphany was this past weekend even though I knew that there was something else to the 6th plus we are Scotch Irish by lineage so I should know this as a passed down thing...and the 8th is celebrated in our church as the circumcision of Christ... and then there is Russian Christmas and now I feel HORRIBLE for being in such a hurry!
I hope God forgives me because I don't think my hubby will .... LOL

Thanks for visiting. I read and value each one of your comments, so type away! Blessings!
